Kalon Decorative Products 2003

Kalon UK is one of the top three players in the production and distribution of paint and decorative products. It produces strong brands – Johnstone’s and Leyland – in its own right and works with household names in the DIY market to produce their own-brand products. Part of the worldwide SigmaKalon Group, the UK business runs its manufacturing, distribution and Head Office from Leeds, has a network of 164 decorating centres across the UK and employs 2,200 people in total.

From March – December 2003, Cchange worked with the HR Director and Head of Internal Communications to improve general communication, HR processes and leadership throughout the business – and to align these to the Kalon Vision. Extensive research resulted in action plans tailored to each area of the business and implementation of those plans was supported by a Stakeholder Group of senior managers.

Cchange helped to produce an extensive feedback document, sent to all employees, summarising the results of the research in which they had participated and outlining the action plans resulting from their views and comments. The Cchange model for team briefing  was tailored to the needs of Kalon audiences as part of the implementation phase.
