Sun Microsystems 1999

Beating the competition

Like most employers in the IT industry in the late 90's, Sun Microsystems was experiencing a shortage of quality candidates.

Cchange carried out quantitative and qualitative research with the aim of finding out what motivated ideal new joiners.

The research looked into their job-seeking habits, their experience of the recruitment process and their expectations of Sun as an employer. It also asked whether Sun met these expectations in reality. To the company's delight, it exceeded them.

Sun was able to use this information to target its recruitment more successfully. As a result it filled 30 key vacancies within three months.
