Mercury Communications
As Head of Internal Communications, Cathy worked closely with myself, the HR and Marketing Directors to create and develop a communications strategy to keep all 12,000 employees informed and motivated at a time of great change for Mercury.
She provided communications coaching and support with writing my weekly letter to all employees as well as all internal presentations by the senior team following annual results, major announcements, product launches and restructure.
One of her greatest qualities was a real ability to understand the “pulse” of the organisation and to react to it, providing information as and when it was needed and in the most relevant format across the various audiences from engineers to call centre staff, Head Office functions, sales teams – and myself.
Cathy managed a team of six people and a wide range of communications projects that required creative thinking, strong organisational skills, a solid understanding of what would work in practice and good relationships at all levels of the business. She also acquired a strong technical grasp of the telecoms market and Mercury’s strategy very quickly, which added to her credibility at senior management level.
With these skills, the ability to get things done, and the experience she has gained with a broad range of clients since working at Mercury, I would recommend her as an asset to any organisation requiring support with communication and organisational development projects.
